Dermaplaning is a procedure that uses a sharp tool such as a blade or a scalpel, to gently exfoliate the top layers of your skin and remove tiny facial hairs. It can result in smoother, brighter appearing skin and make it easier to apply makeup. Dermaplaning may be performed prior to a treatment such as a chemical peel, to allow better penetration of products into the skin.
It’s painless with little downtime, although the skin may be slightly red and more sensitive for a short period. It needs repeating every 3-4 weeks. It is safest when performed by an experienced practitioner, although at-home devices are available.
